September Newsletter
“An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.” Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) American Statesman, Inventor and Writer
Welcome back to our returning students and hello to any new friends!! We are looking forward to a fun and exciting year. CURRICULUM The month of September we will be focusing on helping the children transition from home to school and also settling into a daily routine. Being on time for arrival and dismissal will help the children with this process. Please remember to bring in a picture of your family as we post them on the Family Photo Board. The children love to admire and show off their families. This photo board of familiar faces also helps provide reassurance during their school day. With our main focus on social skills our curriculum will start with building a classroom community. We will be making new friends and learning to share and appreciate the similarities as well as differences in each other. Hand eye coordination and fine motor muscle development will be increased with the use of scissors and small manipulatives. To enhance phonological awareness we will be recognizing and generating rhymes and rhyming songs. The children love to master these skills. Supporting these concepts at home will aid in their growth.
LUNCH BUNCH
Lunch Bunch is an optional extracurricular activity, offered for all classes. This popular lunch period offers the children a wonderful opportunity to socialize with their peers in a relaxed atmosphere. What could be better than having a lunch date with your friends! This is a fun way to increase knowledge of nutrition and table manners.
Preparation for the elementary school cafeteria begins here with the opportunity to amplify confidence and independence in managing the contents of their lunch boxes. At home you can let your children open their own yogurts, cheeses sticks and juice boxes. Watch your children beam with pride over their achievements.
Lunchtime begins at 11:30 and ends at 12:20. You can sign your child up by adding their name to the lunch roster and leaving their money in an envelope with their name on it in the tuition basket. Lunches should be nutritious and packaged in non-breakable containers. Refrigeration is not possible, so please take this into consideration. Remember – please do not send your child to lunch bunch with peanut butter or nut products in their lunch bags. We need to ensure the safety of all of our students.

SNACK TIME Please sign up on the snack calendar. Please remember to avoid peanut butter or peanut products. Snacks and juice should be nutritious and fun too!! REMINDER If you have not already done so, please bring in your child’s extra clothing, including socks, in a zip lock bag with their name on it.
Also, don’t forget a disposable camera with your child’s name on it to capture candid precious moments during our school year. If and/or when changes occur in your child’s environment, please let a teacher know so that we can understand and help support your child in these times.
The second tuition installment and activity fees are due September 15. All consecutive payments are due on the first of each month with the tenth final payment due May 1. There is a $20.00 late fee for all late payments.
Please be on time to greet your child for dismissal of class. Children often feel anxiety at the end of the day when they are eager to be reunited with their families and they are not picked up when their classmates leave. This is also not fair to the teachers who all have busy schedules with commitments to tend to. There is a $5.00 late fee for the first 15 minutes accruing by $5.00 each consecutive 15 minutes.

WISH LIST As we discuss fall and the changes in nature, we are planting in our playground. If you have any overgrown plants you are moving in your yard and are looking for a new place for them, we would love to have them.
COOKING Throughout the year we will be cooking in class. Many times it will be in conjunction with a lesson or story. Cooking is a fun way to explore nutrition, math and science, as well as enhance vocabularies and literacy concepts. Measuring, mixing and following recipes will be explored in this activity. (Don’t forget the best part…tasting!) We will list the ingredients on the board and your contributions are greatly appreciated.
PERSONAL NOTE Miss Sheri, Miss Amy, Miss Bonnie, and Miss Nicole look forward to an exciting new year for your children. We strive to foster a trust and love for school and nurture your child’s desire to learn.
COME ONE COME ALL You and/or a family member are cordially invited to come in to share a story, special craft, recipe, or a hobby with your child’s class. The children love to have their parents, grandparents, or even babysitters share their day. Please feel free to talk to a teacher about making a date to experience preschool with us!!!
